Significant Symptoms Of Menopause

Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

When a woman suspects she may be experiencing the symptoms of menopause this will usually cause her to begin some personal research.  This is what I did, casually at the beginning. One of the first articles I read, in on of the many women’s magazines available today, suggested talking to your mother.  I was 50 years old when I thought that I may be beginning this phase of life.  My mother had passed away a few years earlier.  So I was not able to have a conversation with her about this topic.  Generally a mother and daughter will have very similar experiences with their menstrual cycles. For instance the age they began menstruating, the length of each cycle, cramping, headaches, and the age they begin entering the menopausal stage.

As a woman and a mom, I can give you a non-clinical or college educated medical description of some of the early menopause symptoms.  I can define menopause for you in my own words.  It is a women’s final menstrual period. This phase may take anywhere from one year to several years.  Every woman’s experience with their period is slightly different.  During the years that a woman is menstruating, her body produces estrogen and progesterone.  She has a higher production of estrogen prior to each ovulation and high estrogen and progesterone levels after ovulation.  These hormonal changes cause the mood swings, headaches and other adverse symptoms during the time leading up to her period or during her cycle.

Urinary problems may also be early signs of menopause but should always be checked out by a doctor to re-affirm the cause. Frequent need to urinate, development of a urinary tract infection and even leakage of urine when sneezing, coughing or exercising can also be attributed to perimenopause.

Irregular periods, of course, are early signs of menopause as well. However, because perimenopause can last years, whenever you start exhibiting signs of irregularity, you should be examined by a doctor to rule out other health issues like tumors, fibroids, cancer and more. There are many things that can cause irregular periods and should not be the “end all to end all” signs of menopause.

Exercise Prescription

Hot flashes, gaining weight, and lack of sleep can result in moodiness and depression.  There are a few things you can do to prepare for this time of life or relieve some of these first symptoms of menopause if you are already experiencing them.  I started an exercise program.  Exercise can help reduce these symptoms and decrease the possibility of heart disease, osteoporosis, and obesity.  I joined a local gym and sought the advice of a female personal trainer.  She helped develop an individualized exercise routine according to my medical and exercise history.

The actual event itself will likely come with little fanfare as you have been experiencing the early signs of menopause for years. You are in true menopause when you have not had a period for at least one year. Of course, those symptoms will likely continue for a while longer past the perimenopausal stage. The real kick in the pants comes with the fact that you can still get pregnant while still exhibiting the early signs of menopause. As long as you are still having periods, that means you are still ovulating and thereby there is always a small chance of pregnancy.

What To Expect After Menopause

Posted on Feb 06, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

Now that you have entered the final stages of menopause, or have been told by your doctor that your body is preparing for this hormonal change, you may be wondering how your life will be after menopause. After you get past the uncomfortable symptoms associated with this change, you may find that your life is especially enjoyable and fulfilling. Here are some of the things you can expect after menopause, as well as some tips on how to organize your life.

Menopause, until recently, was a subject that many women did not discuss, even with their doctors. ‘The Change’ was seen as ugly and embarrassing, and many women saw it as a time in their life when they were becoming less feminine. Now, due to new studies and changes in the mindset of society, life after menopause has become especially fulfilling for most women.

Many women wonder about their physical and mental well-being after menopause, since bouts of depression and severe mood swings can occur during the change. Hot flashes are also a symptom of the transition, and after your body has gone through menopause, you will find that these conditions will subside substantially, and you may find that your moods will be much more regulated after menopause; you just have to care for your body during the change so that you can reap the benefits afterwards. A balanced diet that is rich in the B vitamins is recommended, and it is also a good idea to eat foods that are rich in soy during menopause. Taking supplements both during and after menopause may also prove to be helpful; herbs like valerian root will help with insomnia, and St. John’s wort will improve your mood and reduce headaches and recurrent depression.

Some women may also wonder about how their bodies will look after menopause. Since estrogen is the hormone that gives women the fat distribution in their hips, buttocks, and thighs, many postmenopausal women wonder if they will still be able to maintain their feminine figures. With the right type of exercise, women can still be shapely and feel great in their clothes; this may be a good time to hire a personal trainer to learn which cardio and weight training exercises will help to tone the waist and hips, and which exercises will help to lift the breast and chest muscles. Staying active will also reduce the risk of experiencing depression after menopause.

If you want to know more about how to live and organize your life after menopause, you can refer to a number of helpful websites, such as www.familydoctor.org or www.ivillage.com for tips on how to prepare the right meals and take the best herbal supplements for your health.

Can You Afford Not To See This? Avoid SEVERE Menopause!

Posted on Feb 06, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

The viewpoint that the explanation for all the menopause symptoms is due to an instability of hormones is a superficial understanding and requires a deeper insight.

Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective: Menopause is determined a deficient characteristic of the liver and qi (life force). When the energy and blood quality is deficient and obstructed then all body organs that depend on that blood are not able to function at their best. This condition causes the liver to overheat which rises through the body, wreaking havoc in its path. The heart, lungs, digestion, glands, throat, mouth & teeth, nose, eyes, ears, brain, skin and hair become heated and dried resulting in the body heat ailments. Additionally, When the liver isn’t filtering the blood then it progresses into a clotted and sluggish.

Because the body is deficient of life-giving body energy, quality filtered blood and diet, therefore the glands do not perform normally. Their glandular secretions can develop irregularly or immobilized altogether. When the blood is filtered, normally, enriched subsequently all the body’s organs get stronger. Positively, the essence wakes up and normal function improves. The glandular functions, emit once again, assisting the body in its healthy function.

The physical body isn’t missing chemical hormones. The blood is clogged like sludge. Glands are not receiving/transmitting life-giving messages, timely and/or minimally!

So therefore why do we add or provide more hormones. Doesn’t that risk an overload of hormones? Remember when you were a teen and your hormones were super revved. You don’t desire to risk going through that again. You have enough hormones. If you nourish your blood, keep fit, sleep, deal with stress, etc. Our hormones revive back and reenforces increased balance.

So if Chinese medicine knows the problem, then what is their solution to this weakened conditioneath

What Restores Usual Hormone Function? Chinese Medicine Has Had An Answer for More Than a Thousand Years! TCM has developed over 20 formulas for menopause. But which one is the best? Will Green Tea Improve Your Chances Of Surviving Breast Cancer?

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

Breast cancer is one of the foremost horrifying diseases faced by today’s women. In fact, breast cancer is that the second most typical cancer among ladies, after nonmelanoma skin cancer. Regarding 13% of Yankee ladies will develop breast cancer at some purpose in their lifetime. And, it is the second leading cause of cancer death among girls, after lung cancer.

Scientists are continuing to seem for brand spanking new data to work out what causes breast cancer similarly how to prevent and treat this disease. Nowadays, we tend to still don’t apprehend what causes breast cancer, but we have a tendency to do understand a number of the risk factors.

Additionally, we have a tendency to have return a protracted way in treating breast cancer – though several ladies still die each year. A number of the analysis is terribly promising, including research on green tea.

One group of breast cancer sufferers who cause doctors a great area of concern are those who have a higher than average expression of the epidermal growth issue Her-2/neu. Her-2/neu may be a growth issue that typically presents itself in an exceedingly tumor. An over expression of this growth issue is a concern for breast cancer patients.

Throughout routine testing of patients who are recently diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, doctors will verify the level of Her-2/neu. If the extent is high, this information is employed to guide treatment. The amount of this growth issue is very important because studies have shown that patients with an over expression of Her-2/neu have a better probability of their cancer metastasizing, and have an overall lower survival rate. The Her-2/neu is high in regarding 30% of breast cancer patients.

As half of the continued research to search out effective treatments for breast cancer, scientists are trying seriously at the advantages of green tea, each on preventing cancer and treating it. Asian cultures have used green tea for its healing properties for centuries, and their overall rate of cancer is a lot of lower than that of the Western world.

Tea springs from the Camellia sinensis plant. You’ll hear tea called green, white or black. These differences do not result from actual completely different sorts of tea leaf, however rather from variations in how the tea leaves are processed. Green and white teas aren’t fermented throughout processing, but black tea goes through such a processing.

Tea leaves contain catechins, half of the flavan-3-ol category of flavonoids, that are anti-oxidants. EGCG is one in all the catechins contained in tea, and may be a potent anti-oxidant. Fermenting the tea leaves converts the catechins to different compounds that aren’t as healthy as those in unfermented tea. So, the main focus of research has been on green tea, as a result of of its healthier form of anti-oxidants.

What’s So Nice Regarding Anti-Oxidants?

Throughout our body’s process of converting food to energy, we have a tendency to create free radicals in our body. These free radicals are damaging to our cells and DNA if we tend to don’t combat them. Left unchecked, free radicals contribute to rushing up the aging process and to causing diseases like cancer, heart attack and stroke.

Anti-oxidants, however, will facilitate us combat these free radicals, and a diet in anti-oxidants is linked with preventing cancer, heart disease and stroke. So, doctors recommend a diet high in anti-oxidants – which suggests that eating tons of contemporary fruits and vegetables and drinking green tea every day.

However, scientists also appear to be checking out that green tea could be ready to increase the effectiveness in some cancer treatments. Several studies conducted on mice already diagnosed with cancer have shown that taking green tea together with the cancer treatments can increase the effectiveness of the traditional therapy and may cut down the progression of cancer to alternative cells. There is promising analysis; some of it directly related to breast cancer treatment.

One particular study of interest was conducted by the Boston University College of Medicine. In this study, feminine mice with breast cancer whose Her-2/neu levels were very high were treated with green tea along with their regular cancer treatment. Mice that ingested the green tea showed a slower growth of their tumors and a slower progression of their cancer than those that were treated with the identical medication without green tea as an adjunct therapy.*

Researchers who found these results additionally believe that if green tea will inhibit the expansion of tumors in patients already diagnosed with cancer, it could also be effective in preventing cancerous cells from forming and growing in the primary place. This coincides with other analysis that indicates that green tea might be significant in preventing cancer. Additionally, it helps explain why Asian cultures have such an occasional cancer incidence compared to the Western world.

This can be very promising news for a cluster of breast cancer sufferers who have historically had a lower survival rate than others with breast cancer. If we will slow the rate of cancer progression in those with over expression of Her-two/neu to approximately the same rate as different breast cancer patients, we could be so much more effective at treating these patients.

So much additional analysis is needed in the realm of breast cancer prevention and treatment. In addition, scientists can be spending additional time examining the advantages of green tea in cancer prevention and treatment. But, it looks clear that green tea has a place in the prevention and treatment of the many diseases, including cancer.

While there is more analysis to be done, there is no draw back to adding green tea to your diet to help stop disease or to improve your health if it is already failing. Scientists have found no risks involved with drinking green tea. It’s no facet effects, and may be a healthy various to coffee as a result of of its high level of anti-oxidants and because it is abundant lower in caffeine than coffee. Thus, get a jump begin on your anti-oxidants by drinking green tea!

Womens Electric Shavers Don’t Need To Cut Tough Hair

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

Womens electric shavers are certainly very effective and they can provide a few very useful benefits as well. Take for example the fact that such shavers can help in reducing the time it takes to shave and there is also less to worry on account of cutting the skin; using razors on the other hand always invites the possibility of a nick or cut. So if a woman needs to shave her hair in less time and with less risk the female electric shaver is the perfect option.

What is really interesting about womens electric shavers is that the latest models are easy to use and very small, compact and very handy. This means that you can easily pack them and put them in a travel bag for taking with you whenever you hit the road. Certainly, the design of female electric shavers is different to those of men’s electric shavers and there are simple reasons for this.

What’s more, these shavers are especially designed to suit the specific needs of women shavers and so it is better to use these rather than men’s electric shavers that have to be able to cut tough hair.

An electric shaver for women comes with a larger sized head though the motor is less powerful as compared to a man’s electric shaver. Even then, some women prefer using the men’s electric shaver because such shavers get the job done more rapidly.

When it comes to picking female electric shavers you will have two style choices to make: foil electric shavers and rotary electric shavers. The former types have a narrow piece of metal (perforated) that makes contact with the skin and there are holes in the foil through which hair will enter and also get sheared away be a blade within that moves rapidly in a to and fro manner.

Before you choose a particular female electric shaver you must understand that there are two distinct styles to choose from. One is the foil electric shaver while the other is the rotary electric shaver and each has its own plus and minus points.

Women should, before picking womens electric shavers look at factors such as contours; in this regard the rotary shavers will always adjust to the shape of the body and so are best used when shaving arms and the bikini area.

Also, the rotary electric shaver comes with three separate shaving blades and they cut hair with the help of spinning blades that when they make contact with any strand of hair that pokes into a metal screen will simply remove that part of the hair.

Muscle Gain Truth Review

In this article I’ll be talking about 8 ways to help you reach your goal of losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks. If you add exercise to this list you can really supercharge your success rate. These are ways to lose weight I’m sure you have never heard before.

Burn off 10 pounds by using these techniques for two straight weeks:

When you finally figure out how to lose ten pounds in two weeks is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of creating a long life filled with health.

Try doing a herbal cleanse.
Basically, an herbal cleanse will help you by flushing out undigested waste that your body might have been storing for years. They typically cost around $65 per session and you usually get around 3 sessions per cycle. This is good to do at the change of every season. We wash the outside, why not the inside?

Perform a colon cleanse.
I have heard that it’s possible for one colon cleanse session to be capable of cutting off 5 to 10 pounds of undigested material. People typically carry 10-15 pounds of undigested fecal matter in their lower intestines during their lives. Scary.

Food combination.
Eat only starches (breads, pastas, etc) alone with a salad at each meal. Also only eat proteins alone with a salad. Keep your food combinations simple. Your body needs to really deplete itself in order to process so many foods at once. If you want to learn more, think about going on a raw food diet. Raw food is the only food that has all it’s own enzymes intact.

Eating fruit on an empty stomach is ideal.
Fruit is easily digested, giving the stomach a maximum time of 30 minutes for it to fully absorb the fruit. If you follow it up with something heavy like bread, it would take longer for the stomach to digest all this food. Because of this, the fruit you have initially eaten will rot by the time the bread is fully digested. The more rotten food you have the more indigestion it causes and fermentation in your gut. Think gas and weight gain.

Don’t eat after 8 pm.
Eating late will cause blood to have to go to your stomach for digestion during your sleep instead of repairing your body and making new cells. Worse, blood will pool to the stomach and cause the body to produce more adrenaline than necessary, resulting in a sleepless night. If you don’t get enough sleep this throws off the thyroid which controls your metabolism, which controlls how much weight you gain. See the cycle? Sleep is critical here people.

Break your fast each morning with fruit.
Try eating nothing but fruit before noon. However, prepare a 30-minute gap between your last piece of fruit to provide the stomach time to digest. You might also have a raw fat with your fruit like avocoado pieces to slow sugar absorbtion and keep you fuller longer.

As an aside, if you’re after the best workout program that I’ve seen in a long time, I really think you should checkout this Vince Delmonte Review.

Take enzymes with your meals.
Basically, food digestion is usually more effective with the help of enzymes. The more you supplement your diet with enzymes during each meal, the better digestion you will have and the more weight you will lose. The more  you eliminate the less you weigh, the more energy you have and the happier you are. Uncooked foods have all their enzymes intact so you’re not required to take enzymes with raw foods.

Eat a salad with every meal.
To lose 10 pounds in a matter of weeks, eating a salad with every meal is crucial. Eat the salad first if possible. The salad helps to start the enzymatic process, so your body has the tools to start the digestive process and your digestive system will be ready for the cooked food. Additionally, it would also help you avoid eating bad foods since you’ll feel fuller faster after eating a salad.

Is It Possible To Stop Food Addiction? – Read These Tips

Posted on Feb 05, 2010 under Hot Flashes, Menopause, Night sweats, cancer | No Comment

If you want to know how you can stop food cravings then you need to eat less – that’s the straight forward solution. I have heard this line so many times before and used to say it a lot at my work place, while watching some of my friends eat, at home, at parties. I would like to spend some time and write about causes of food cravings.

Let start by saying that eating a lot does not automatically lead to cravings for food or gaining some weight instead it is the choice of food you indulge in. Cravings for food are heightened when eating some certain types of foods i.e. some type of food stimulates and increases them and eating another type of food might help them. Yes, there is some good food out there that can really help you get over your deadly habit. For example, if you need to stop them, consider taking b-vitamin complex (B vitamins). By taking these vitamins you can be sure of a controlled break down of food in your body i.e. b-vitamins help in the metabolism of carbohydrates into sugar glucose that is simpler. There is plenty if food that contains b-complex vitamins. For example, you can find them in liver, nuts, leafy green vegetables, rice, milk, eggs, meats, fish and whole-grain cereals fruits.

Now the most common cause of food cravings are the imbalances in the chemical orientation in our bodies or system and if you need to gain access to the right nutrients for your body then you should consider eating the right kind of food and thus help restore chemical imbalances. This is true even for woman who are premenstrual and want some foods that fight PMS.

Now that you know about chemical imbalances I guess you can understand why some weight loss advertrisers claim that you can eat as much as you want but still lose weight. The people who develop such products basically come up with some anti depressants that enables the creation of some certain resources that your body needs so that is remains healthy and cravings free. These scientists have spent years studying the human anatomy and have come up with the best tools or resources to help your body and to keep it healthy, stop the desire to keep eatingand shed some baggage without changing much on your eating patterns.

Antidepressants work and have helped millions of people all over the world, I am not, however, a huge fan as they may have some side effects for some people such a nausea, irritability, to name just a few. I believe in natural ways to curb food cravings and you can do this by understanding the body’s chemical make-up and then stay balanced by taking all the necessary foods.

I hope so far you can relate even if you are looking for easy ways to stop sugar cravings

You don’t have to pay a cent to gain control of your eating habits. For instance, as for foods that fight pms, I usually recommend the following, observe and not the emotional triggers that lead you to eating excessively, try to improve your mood through exercise, each time you feel a bit hungry or just desiring food just drink a glass of water also find some better foods that you can eat in stead of your usual junk food for example, eat chocolates that have not fat.

Read AboutThe Causes Of Cellulite: Why Is It Form?

Posted on Feb 04, 2010 under Uncategorized | No Comment

The only good thing about cellulite is that it is non-life threatening. Yet it can have a very real effect on our lives. Many major decisions regarding our employment, personal relationships and even our love life are based on how we view ourselves.

Cellulite is a description rather than a physical object. The term ‘cellulite’ is used to describe the appearance of the skin. It looks like the bumps on an orange peal or lumpy like cottage cheese.

The question then becomes: How do we get cellulite?

The making of cellulite takes place deep within the skin. This is a case where beauty is from the outside in as well as from the inside out.

The formation of cellulite is a five step process.

The first step in the process is the way our fat metabolism is distributed.

The second step occurs when the fat cells become fatter. As these cells grow they squeeze the capillaries together.

This leads to a third step. The squeezing of the capillaries causes a disruption in our micro-circulation.

Step four follows as this disruption causes our skin’s elastin/collegan support structure to breakdown.

Once this final step takes place fluid retention increases along with an increase of toxins.

There are many reasons why some of us get cellulite and others don’t.

Some of these causes are:
–Our genetic background has a lot to do with our getting cellulite and at what age. Unfortunately, we have little control over who our ancestors were.

–Cellulite can happen because of hormonal changes. When teenager go through their teen years they are more prone to the formation of cellulite. Women who are going through menopause or just starting on birth control pill are also more at risk.

–Our diets can play a role in whether we get cellulite or not. If we already have cellulite, watching our diet can help stop it from getting any worse. A poor diet with an excessive amounts of fat, carbohydrates, salt, or one with too little fiber can all contribute to increased cellulite.

–Our lifestyle plays a large part in whether we get cellulite or not. Lack of exercise, sitting or standing in one position for long periods will contribute to the formation of cellulite.

–Wearing underwear that has tight elastic going across the middle of the buttock constricts the blood flow which in turn causes cellulite to form.

–Smoking is another factor in the forming of cellulite. One more reason to stop smoking.

–Dehydration can also contribute to cellulite. We need to make sure that we drink enough liquids.

We have little control over some of the factors causing cellulite, however, there many things we do have control over. Something as simple as changing our lifestyle may go a long way to avoid getting those unsightly bumps.

Prostate Cancer Screening Guidelines

Posted on Feb 02, 2010 under cancer | No Comment

I would like you to first relax. Understand that detecting lung cancer is a long process, and along the way there are many other reasons for everything that seems abnormal. If you fear that you have detected lung cancer in you or a close loved one, please do not panic, let the doctor make the call.

Prostate Cancer Screening Guidelines

The first thing I would like to cover is your emotions. I have had many family members who have been tested for lung cancer recently, and even though they are at high risk and they had all the symptoms, they did not have lung cancer. So please, please do not worry until the doctor has diagnosed you with lung cancer. It is not official until then.

If you are experiencing the following symptoms then you will want to tell your doctor right away and get in for a CT scan. The symptoms are: a new, consistent cough, “smoker’s cough” changes, coughing up blood, shortness of breath, chest pain, wheezing, and hoarseness. You also will want to talk to your doctor about any risk factors that you may have.

The CT scan will be able to tell if anything is abnormal around or on your lungs. You may have a nodule or you may have nothing. Many patients will be scared to no end when they have a nodule on their lung, but relax and know that there are many possibilities besides a tumor. For example, my mother’s ended up being fatty tissue, while my grandmother’s was calcium build up.

If you have been told you have a nodule on your lung, you doctor can run various tests to see if it is other possibilities. If it does come back as a tumor after this test, then it is still not time to worry. The next step is a biopsy exam. A biopsy will be able to tell if it is cancerous cells or just a tumor. You are not officially diagnosed with lung cancer until the biopsy results come back as cancerous, and that is very rare compared to the number of people who are tested.

If your results came back as cancerous, then the best of luck to you. Join support groups, and evaluate your life so you are able to share your experience with others and your children. How would you want them to prevent lung cancer? Talk to your doctor about the variety of treatment methods and about how severe your cancer is.
The early your stage, the greater chance you have of removing all of the cancer cells.

If your test results came back good, then congratulations, but do not forget this experience and still try to limit your risk factors and prevent yourself from developing lung cancer along with other cancers. Keep yourself healthy and your family healthy. Exercise regularly together. If any of you are at high risk, then work extra hard and bring about a greater awareness in your children about how smoking and drinking can harm them.
