How To Slow The Pace Of Getting Older
Posted on Apr 27, 2010 under Uncategorized | No CommentHave you ever woken up one morning to find yourself looking in the mirror and worrying how your face looks like it has aged, with facial lines becoming more visible? With the busy lives that we lead these days, it is hard maintain with our own routines at times. Here are some ideas that can help to reduce the presence of facial lines.
But first of all what are these?
Facial lines are folds, creases or lines that can appear on the forehead, neck, face and hands. They could be deep depressions inside the skin that are caused when the skin has lost it is firmness. The skin is made up of 3 layers:
The EPIDERMIS, the outermost layer that everyone can look at. This layer provides barrier to the elements of the outside environment.
The DERMIS, which is made up of the structural elements of the skin is the middle layer. This is the ligament.
The SUBCUTANEOUS, most inner layer contains fat cells. They make the skin look plump or full.
Collagen, a protein in the dermis layer, is what helps prevent wrinkles. Fibres called elastin have an elastic quality that also help. Over time the collagen and fibres deteriorate which makes the pores and skin become thinner. When this occurs not enough moisture can get to the epidermis. As we humans grow older, natural oils in our skin become not as much and the number of sweat glands drop and this leads to our skin drying out.
Some methods that we can minimize this effect are-
1/ Protect our pores and skin from the sun. Wear sun block lotion with a SPF of 30 or higher. Long sleeve, pants, and hats to protect the skin. Remember that the Ultra violet is usually really strong on cloudy days, so cover up.
2/ Keeping your skin hydrated is a must. Have loads of mineral water, a minimum of 6-8 glasses is a good amount to have.
3/ Moisturise just about every morning with a good moisturiser or sunscreen. Doesn’t need to be the costliest, something that you will be comfortable with, perhaps not too oily.
4/ Don’t smoke. Smoking will draw out all the moisture from the pores and skin and dehydration will occur more rapidly. This can then make the skin look much older and make appears seem older earlier than it should.
5/ Facial massages will help to stimulate the muscles and tone them up faster.
6/ Diet plan is essential to keeping wrinkles at bay. Eat a lot of vegetables and reduce the consumption of fats. Eat high anti-oxidant foods, they will help build up collagen and rebuild elasticity in the pores and skin.
7/ Good skin care: Exfoliating and cleansing to clear dead skin cells. Hydration of your skin with moisturiser as described in step 3.
8/ Drinking Green Tea is also really beneficial as it contains a lot of antioxidants, so can be really helpful.
9/ Another good skincare idea that I have come across is using vitamin E and honey. Mix a capsule of vitamin E with some honey and rub it onto the face, leave for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with warm soapy water. Honey allows to moisten and vitamin E will work for repairing skin harm.
10/ Get plenty of rest. You require this to help your pores and skin rejuvenate.
Getting old is something that we’ll all face at some point, it is unavoidable. But getting there at a much slower pace is what we all have been looking for. Here’s to your success in beating growing older.
