Having to deal with cancer was terrible enough for my family and I yet the notion of dealing the rest of my existence devoid of another full nights sleep was going to be the end of me. Night sweats had taken crept in after my surgery and I needed to do something about it. This is what I did.

Not many years ago I shocked to learn I had cancer; I was not happy to discover that I would have to get a hysterectomy at such a youthful age. Although I have two kids already, I would have loved to been able to keep the option for one more if we so decided. It is a weird sensation to realize that you can no longer have kids mainly when it is not your choice.

In the beginning of my battle I was mandated a regiment of treatments that required radiation and chemotherapy. The chemo wasn’t too bad in the beginning but as time went on it was obvious it was changing my body. I realize it can destroy cancer but it felt like a battle to the death was occurring inside my body and the conclusion would either be me or the cancer. I have forever thought there must be a healthier way to deal with this. Perhaps someday the cure will be made available to us, but until then I can only suppose that if there is a natural un-patentable cure out there, the medical and drug industry will keep a lid on it.

In time I was able consider myself cancer free and the sense of release had covered me from top to toe. But as soon as I had found this fresh reprieve I discovered a fresh setback had taken its place.

Previous to cancer I had a reasonably ordinary sleep pattern. I would go to sleep, get up perhaps one time for a restroom break and return to bed to finish with a full night’s sleep. Yet following the treatment and the surgical procedure I found myself tossed into a new world of menopause induced by my hysterectomy.

Now with this menopause came its cousin, menopausal nighttime sweats, and a whole line of additional troubles. If I were to show you every single one of the connected issues included I could go on ceaselessly. The night sweats were adequate. They would keep me awake all night and make my spouse to lose numerous hours of rest in addition. Finally it caused my spouse to relocate to an extra room. I had to discover an answer. These night sweats were destroying me and my marriage.

I tried quite a few solutions to my problem as well as tried very nearly every natural and un-natural medication obtainable. I tried chilly pillows, I tried absorbing night clothes, I tried unusual sheets, you name it I tried it. I was about to quit when a colleague of mine showed me a gadget called a Bedfan. Now to be very truthful with you when she said it over the telephone I thought she said Bed Pan so I was a touch taken back seeing as I could not assume for the life of me exactly how a Bed Pan was going to help with night sweats.

Nonetheless, the Bedfan ended up being the life saver I was trying to find. For me to describe how it works I will take a quotation from one of the first users of the fan. One lady said it was like cooling off in a waterfall and not getting wet. That is exactly how it felt. Starting from that first night on, I never had night sweats yet again. Now don’t get the wrong idea I could feel my body getting warmer and only from habit for a while I expected to begin sweating, but it by no means happened.

They say that the way this thing works is, as your body starts getting hot, your bed is not able to reduce that heat fast enough. By way of the Bedfan the hot air is moved out of the bed, never giving it an opportunity to build up to sweating. This is the way it feels; the next time you are lying in bed and you begin to feel warm, just lift up your legs to lift the sheets up high. gradually let your legs down and experience the breeze gliding across your body to cool it down. That is how it feels all night long.

At the end of the day I find myself sad that I can no longer create kids but at least I am still living. Not only am I still living but credit to the Bedfan, I am able to sleep again and get the rest I need so that I can still spend time with the lovely kids I do have. I hope this will help others as much as it has helped me and my spouse.
