Can I Stop Snoring With Anti Snoring Pillows?
Posted on Jun 10, 2010 under Uncategorized | No CommentSnoring is a complex issue and may have many causes, however the main ones are poor health, being overweight and a bad diet. In many cases, reducing snoring takes a considerable amount of time and, while there are devices available to assist in snoring reduction, most are costly or invasive. Anti snoring pillows are probably the easiest solution to significantly reduce snoring and improve sleep quality overall.
We snore for a multitude of reasons, mainly due to air being blocked around the throat. Often, excess flesh presses against the throat tissues, causing the soft pallet, the uvula, and the tonsils to obstruct air flow which causes snoring. Low grade inflammation, however, can also cause such blockage and the resultant snoring. Snoring can indicate an underlying medical condition, but most snoring is not serious except for the peace of mind of the snorer and their unfortunate partner. This is probably a good example of the simplest answer really being the best one
It might pay to have yourself checked out by a doctor to ensure your general health is ok.In some rare cases, like severe sleep apnea, where snoring might be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. However, snoring is more often caused by excess weight. Of course losing weight is always a good health move, but it’s time consuming you may find your snoring might not stop straight away. Inflammation can also cause snoring and is widespread today. Taking over-the-counter remedies to counteract snoring caused by inflammation is probably not the smartest idea, as too many over-the-counter medications are damaging to the liver. The best way to stop snoring due to inflammation is to start living a healthier lifestyle and eliminate the causes inflammation such as dairy or wheat intolerance. This will also take a while and may be quite difficult, but can substantially improve our general health
Despite all this, the snoring usually continues and, for some unlucky few, continues after the weight loss and the inflammation have long gone. There are a few other remedies, nasal strips are one example that are not too invasive and are cheap to buy. A packet of nasal strips can be bought for under $10 and they are simple to fit onto the nose prior to sleep. However these don’t eliminate all snoring and people find them uncomfortable. Remember, most snoring is caused by pressure on the throat tissue, so it stands to reason that nasal strips will not work for many people.
The whole idea is to take the pressure off the uvula, tonsils and soft pallet. Here, there are a couple of solutions which will work well. One is an anti-snoring mouth guard. For about $30, this is a device that you put into the mouth before bed. Although this sometimes does work, many people find it uncomfortable. The other is simply an anti-snoring or snore reduction pillow, which can range in cost from about $20 to about $60. Several snorers find this a good, non invasive option.
Here’s something else to think about. If your neck and head position is so bad that you begins to snore, then holding your head in proper position while sleeping is more than likely helping in other ways as well, not the least of which is spinal alignment.
