Are You At Risk Of Ear Drumming Tinnitus?
Posted on Feb 23, 2010 under Uncategorized | No CommentEar ringing tinnitus is a set of symptoms of illnesses and ailments that have one thing in common: the sufferer hears a noise for prolonged periods, often a lifetime. In most cases the noise is constant and will never go away.
The tinnitus noise can be soft and barely audible. You’ll hardly notice it as you go about your daily activities. For others the noise can be loud like a scream. And, it goes on and on, day and night, day after day. And, the worst part is you know it will never go away. Tinnitus is a lifetime sentence to constant, irritating, unrelenting noise.
Ear ringing tinnitus noise can be so nauseating that lots of people cannot focus on even simple tasks. For some, holding a job and concentrating on the task at hand is out of the question. Reading a book or magazine is only something they remember they once enjoyed. Listening to other people speak is difficult. Sound sleep is often nearly not possible. They become weary and depressed, without hope of relief.
One famous sufferer, actor William Shatner, described his tinnitus as a screeching noise. He got his tinnitus on the set filming a Start Trek episode. He said his tinnitus was so bad that he was tormented by the screeching and didn’t know if he could survive the pain.
For many, the unrelenting noise is a constant tone like a musical note. For others it is like being in a forest with thousands of crickets. Other people hear a roaring like a hundred lions that are continually fighting all through the day and night. Still others hear a ringing like an alarm clock at all hours of the day and night. There is no rest from tinnitus.
And, why do these more than fifty million Americans suffer this way? Often, like William Shatner, it’s because of a transitory event, like being too close to the special effects explosion that started Shatner’s screeching tinnitus. For others, it’s repeated loud noises or music that eventually builds up to cause tinnitus. Loud music affects many young people who go to clubs or attend rock concerts or who crank up the volume on their iPods. Medicines and drugs, high blood pressure and other conditions also cause tinnitus.
Tinnitus affects a large number of Americans and that number is growing every day. You probably know someone who suffers from tinnitus. Tinnitus is the number one injury of veterans returning from the Middle East. Tinnitus affects aged people just because they are old. It affects young people, male and female. No one is immune.
